The short answer
A fidget clicker is a small hand-held toy with one or more buttons that click each time you press them and spring straight back for the next one. Ours come in two families: StreetClick, our build-your-own range where you choose the texture, colours and switch for every button, and character clickers shaped like food, flowers and paws.
Why do people love fidget clickers?
Ask someone who uses one and they'll usually talk about the feedback. You press, something definite happens, and it happens every time. For a lot of people that small, predictable loop is very satisfying when their head is busy or their hands won't keep still.
Clickers are also easy. There's no trick to learn and no way to do it wrong, so a child picks one up and understands it straight away. Adults like them for the same reason, often during a long phone call or at moments when they'd otherwise be picking at their nails. If you're new to fidgets in general, our guide to choosing your first fidget covers the other types too.
StreetClick: build-your-own clickers
StreetClick is our range of clickers you design yourself. They go from a single button small enough for a pocket, up to six buttons on one clicker, and you choose every button separately when you order.
- The texture on top. Stars, hearts, flowers, paw prints, cobwebs, ridges, letters and more, each one raised so you can feel it under your thumb.
- The colours. A colour for the clicker itself and colours for each button, so it can match a favourite outfit, a team or a name spelled out in letters.
- The switch. Classic Click is crisp and satisfying, and you'll hear it. The Quiet switch is a gentle press that's barely audible. You can mix them on one clicker.
Because each one is printed to your choices, no two orders look quite the same, which is why they're a favourite as a gift.
Character clickers
These come ready-designed. They're shaped like little characters and everyday things, such as a wedge of cheese, a cupcake, a pickle with a face, a tulip and a big paw with toe-bean buttons. Some have one button and some have several.
They're the easy pick when you want something fun to hand over straight away, and they make good small gifts and party bag treats. You'll hear them click, so they're for places where a bit of sound is fine.
Where is it OK to use a fidget clicker?
A classic click is the whole point of a clicker, and it means anyone near you can hear it.
At home, on the sofa, in your bedroom or at a gaming desk, that's no problem at all. Plenty of gamers keep one beside the keyboard for loading screens. It's also fine on a walk, on a bus with headphones in, or anywhere you're on your own.
Exams, meetings, libraries and shared offices are different. In a silent room every click carries. Choosing Quiet switches on a StreetClick helps a lot, but for a truly silent room, such as an exam hall, a fidget you roll, rub or twist is the kinder choice. Every product page shows a noise level, and our fidget noise levels page explains what each level means. Our quiet fidgets are the ones made for those rooms.
School is worth its own mention. Teachers have different rules, and a clicker is the kind of fidget most likely to be confiscated, so it's worth checking first.
How our clickers are made
Every clicker we sell is 3D-printed by us in Kent from PLA, a plant-based polymer. They carry the UKCA mark and are made to the UK toy safety standard, BS EN 71. They contain small parts, so they're not suitable for children under 36 months.
Questions people ask
What is a fidget clicker?
A small hand-held toy with one or more buttons that click each time you press them and spring back for the next press.
Are fidget clickers loud?
A classic click is audible to people nearby. On a StreetClick you can choose a Quiet switch for any button instead, which is a gentle press that is barely audible. For an exam hall, a silent fidget is still the better choice.
Can I design my own fidget clicker?
Yes. With StreetClick you choose the texture, colours and switch for every button, from one button up to six.
Can you use a fidget clicker in class?
It depends on the teacher and the school. Clickers are the type of fidget most likely to be refused, so ask first or choose a silent fidget for lessons.
Are fidget clickers suitable for young children?
Our clickers contain small parts and are not suitable for children under 36 months.
